 I’m Free

Now  “It’s Showtime!” Each Tuesday we are going to be watching videos from the Sign Posts Day Camp Program

Today’s story is called- “They Have no Wine”. You can find this story in the  New Testament of the Bible – John 2-1-11. Maybe you would like to read it before you watch this Video, or ask someone to read it out loud to you. We’ve copied it for you right here, in case you haven’t got a Bible handy:-

John 2 Two days later there was a wedding in the town of Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there,

and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.

When the wine had given out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They are out of wine.”

“You must not tell me what to do,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”

Jesus’ mother then told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

The Jews have rules about ritual washing, and for this purpose six stone water jars were there, each one large enough to hold between twenty and thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill these jars with water.” They filled them to the brim,

and then he told them, “Now draw some water out and take it to the man in charge of the feast.” They took him the water,

which now had turned into wine, and he tasted it. He did not know where this wine had come from (but, of course, the servants who had drawn out the water knew); so he called the bridegroom

10 and said to him, “Everyone else serves the best wine first, and after the guests have drunk a lot, he serves the ordinary wine. But you have kept the best wine until now!”

11 Jesus performed this first miracle in Cana in Galilee; there he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

Now here is this week’s CRAFT-

Craft:-

Now here is a craft for you to make:-

PAPIER MACHÉ STICK PUPPET

Supplies: (per puppet)

1 balloon newspaper torn into small pieces

white  glue or homemade paste*

Bamboo Garden Stake or dowel

Masking Tape

Yarn Scraps

 Paint and Brushes

 Construction Paper

 Scissors

Sharpie Markers

Optional: Fabric scraps and trimmings

First collect your supplies and set up a place where you can work today and also leave your project to dry overnight.

     * If you haven’t got any white glue you can make some paste with 1 cup of flour and 1 cup of water. Put these 2 ingredients in a bowl and keep stirring until there are no lumps. If you have an essential oil you can add a few drops which will make it smell nice and also act as a preservative.

Now blow up your balloon and start covering it with the small pieces of newspaper, until it is totally covered.  You will need to have several layers of newspaper. Set the balloon aside to dry overnight.

Next day cut the knot off where you tied the balloon. Insert your dowel or stake in the hole and attach it firmly with masking tape or more pieces of newspaper dipped in glue.

When it is dry you can paint and decorate your puppet, adding yarn hair too.

I made a puppet that looks like the bride from today’s wedding story. Maybe you would like to make yours to look like one of the other people at the wedding. Use your imagination

Last of all before you head outside to get some fresh air and exercise, we have a super challenge for you. Make sure to ask someone to take a photos of your challenge and email it to us office@crosstalkministries.ca

Next week we will post all the photos!

Today’s CHALLENGE is sent to you by our friend LAMB

Dear Campers,

What is lamb’s favourite drink….. LAMBONADE!!

I hope you are having a good summer! I am excited to join you in Terrific Tuesdays! Look for my ‘letters from lamb’ and be sure to write back to me!

In our story, Jesus turned water in wine- and that is wild! It is so cool that Jesus can do miracles like turn water into wine! Jesus seems to really want to help his friends, and share things with them.

I don’t drink wine myself, but I do love ‘lambonade!’ Here is a picture of me sharing a glass with my friend Jillian.

Can you prepare a special drink to share with a family member or friend? Maybe you want to try lambonade or make a nice iced tea or orange juice? Send me a picture if you like!

Love,

Lamb

Here is a made from scratch LAMBONADE (Lemonade) recipe for you to make-

  2. MAKE SUGAR WATER: In a small saucepan, add water and sugar. Bring to boil.
  3. SQUEEZE THE LEMON JUICE: Using your citrus juicer, strain 8 fresh lemons until you get about 1.5 cups of lemon juice.
  4. SERVE: Pour lemon juice, water, and sugar water into a large pitcher. Pour over ice and enjoy!
